Whether it's a single information page or a full flash animated website, LTRN can help you design, implement and maintain your web project.
During the design phase of the project, we can meet and discuss your needs, why you want a website, what sort of thing you want on the website and the actual look and feel of the end product. This can also be done via email or over the phone if necessary.
Some of our projects have been to modernise an older website, so for this a large portion of the content has already been written. For others, the entire website must be written from scratch. We will assist as far as we are able with this task, but no one knows your business better than you do.
Some clients come with a very fixed idea of what they want their website to look like, either as a concept or a drawing. In those cases, we will make the website look as close web programming languages allow to that design. For others, we will discuss a range of different layouts, images, colours, fonts etc which will complement your business. You will be given multiple designs to choose from. This can be a daunting process, since the languages which websites are written in really allow just about anything to be done, but we will make this process as simple as possible for you.
If you want photographs included in your website, you may either provide the files to us, or we can come onsite to take them for you then edit them for the website. It is usually much easier if we take the photographs if you want them to be included in things like banners or menus, since these types of images require a different technique than simple rectangle frame shots.
Of course we won't just leave you with a bunch of files! If this is the first website your business has had, you will need a domain name (e.g. www.ltrn.com.au) and a webhost (somewhere to store the files so that others may view them). If this is an Australian domain (.au) then you will need to have a business name registered which is similar to the domain name you wish to use. All these hurdles are easily jumped, and we will provide you with the most cost effective solution. You will have the choice of being invoiced directly by the hosting companies, or having LTRN manage your accounts for you.
If you already have a website or domain name, we will simply update the website hosted on it; there is no need to change everything. Please note, however, that different website hosts provide different levels of service which may not include all of the programming techniques which we use as standard (such as PHP). We can write the website so as it can work on any server, but we must know before the programming begins.
Websites are never static, and information on them must constantly change. LTRN offers ongoing support for websites, even if you manage the accounts yourself. Our update rates are very reasonable, and we generally make your updates within 24 hours of your request. For small updates like adding a few lines of text, it can be done within minutes of your email.
LTRN does not generally provide HTML training to clients. For most organisations, it is more cost effective to have us update your website than train your staff to do so.
If you do want someone within your organisation to be able to edit your website, and they are not trained in HTML editing, we can construct the website in FrontPage, Dreamweaver or any other popular website design tool in order that the files may be edited in those user friendly environments. In those cases, we can provide minimal training and support to allow someone to update basic information.
Please note that website design tools (such as FrontPage) do not allow as much freedom in programming as script level editing. The use of these programs may limit the design of your website.
If the content of your website is constantly changing we can offer dynamic content options where a member of your staff may log in and change certain details of a page through a custom built, user friendly interface.
This level of customisability requires a great deal more time in programming, which will be reflected in the cost of the website.
